The Science Behind COVID spreading in the Water:
According to the CDC, there is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, spas, or water play areas. Proper operation and maintenance of these facilities should inactivate the virus in the water.

Our COVID Policy
UPDATED JANUARY 17, 2022
Teach America To Swim used the guidelines set by our state and local officials along with the American Red Cross as the minimum standard for increasing our safety during swim lessons.
As your safety and the safety of our Instructors is extremely important to us, we created a short Q&A to share some of the safety policies we have in place.
Please Note: Our protocols & policies are subject to change based on the best information we have from our health officials and the American Red Cross.
What are instructors doing to ensure lessons are safe?
All of our instructors must be vaccinated to teach any programming. Instructors must also submit a negative COVID test before arriving at the facility to teach swim lessons!
At the beginning of each class, instructors will do a visual scan of each swimmer when they arrive to check for runny noses, coughs, and any other visual signs of illness. Should one of our instructors notice that your swimmer shows any signs & symptoms, our instructors will ask to reschedule.

Have the lesson types changed?
Yes. We have added more class offerings that include household-only programs. This winter we've reduced the number of mixed household programs we are offering. Our limited semi-private programs will run with a reduced number of swimmers. Check out your specific location for more details about programs in your area.

Have the occupancy limits changed?
For swim lessons, yes. At this time we are asking families to have one parent/guardian per household attend lessons per week to limit the number of people in the waiting area and pool during a given lesson. Please enter through the main door and wait in the waiting room. Your instructor will be there to greet you and let you back into the pool area at your class time. There will only be one class in the pool area at a time.

What's your mask policy?
At this point, the State of Vermont has lifted the mask mandate, but we are now requiring our participants and their families to bring and wear their own masks throughout the indoor facility at all times except for when swimmers are in the water.

When should I keep my swimmer home from lessons?
If your swimmer is not feeling well or has any visible symptoms of COVID, we kindly ask that you proactively keep your swimmer home and complete a make-up request form.

What if we have to keep our swimmers home because they show symptoms?
As COVID cases are high in most areas, we will be offering make-up classes to swimmers that have missed a class due to COVID or COVID symptoms as long as a make-up request form has been completed.
Please note: if a make-up request form has not been received at or before the time of absence, your make-up may not be granted.
