American Red cross swimming lessons
Teach America To Swim works with our partners to staff, train, and facilitate the American Red Cross' water safety curriculum. Please select your state below to see where lessons are offered. Programs offered at each location will vary based on the facility's safety regulations.
All lessons can have swimmers ranging in age from 6 months of age to adult. Each lesson provides developmentally appropriate water safety topics and swimming skills instruction. Red Cross Instructors progress swimmers through eight levels of instruction. Each swimmer undergoes an evaluation as he or she progresses through each level. Level information is available below.
Teach America To Swim offers three lessons types:
Group (10 swimmers)
Group lessons are a great way for swimmers to learn water safety skills with a group of peers who are at a similar swimming ability. Lessons are grouped primarily based on swimming ability with few age restrictions.
Semi-Private (3+ swimmers)
Semi-private lessons are perfect for swimmers who benefit from more one-on-one time with an instructor while still exploring the aquatic environment and learning water safety with their peers.
Private (1-2 swimmers)
Private lessons include one-on-one swimming and water safety instruction. We strongly recommend private lessons for infants, toddlers, and swimmers who may have a fear of the water.
